What's Best Colour to Paint a Small Kitchen?
Are you the owner of a small kitchen and wondering how to refresh it with paint colours?

You will want to choose colours that won’t over power the space but incorporate your personality much like a larger room.
Neutral colours probably come to mind and that’s the norm. If you’re wanting to update your small kitchen colour, how about going with other colours that will make a statement? You can still have fun with paint colours even though the kitchen is small.
If your small kitchen design has a lot of natural light, think about being bold and using dark walls. A wall that is floor to ceiling would be a great place to have a dark colour, then perhaps use the same colour from that cold colour in other places in the kitchen like the backsplash or smaller walls. Or have the cabinets painted a dark colour and have the walls painted with a neutral colour? Grays would work in that aspect because it is a neutral light colour that can be enhanced as a darker shade.
If you want a calm feel when you’re in the kitchen look at the colours light blue and light yellow. These colours will work well with all cabinetry and make for great accents in a small kitchen design no matter the wall’s colour. Both of the are very versatile and perfect to use as a base with your small kitchen colour to enhance a feeling of calm.
If you would really like your small kitchen design to look bigger choose colours that are muted. Like purples muted down to lavender and all shades in between. Green is another colour that should be considered especially if you’re the outdoors type. A light green also gives off a calming feeling when you pair it with the right accents, like plants.
The use of neutrals will always be the most popular choice for small kitchen colours. If you’re leaning towards using white, be careful of the tint. You should know that neutrals have an undertone to them. We don’t know that until a room is painted and you may not like it. You will have to decide whether to live with the colour or change it. Knowing what defines a neutral colour will help you before you make a decision about the colour. Neutral colours are those colours that are light to medium that will work with other colours. You have to know the undertone of the neutral colour you’d like to use. You can do this by holding a paint swatch against a pure white background and see what colour comes to the forefront. If you are using a paint swatch, those little cards, the darkest colour on the card is generally the undertone. However, you can’t always rely on looking at the paint swatch in the store. For instance, the neutral of a light gray you’re looking at could have undertones of brown in it but you won’t know that until you’re home and the colour doesn’t match and isn’t what you had in mind. It’s a good idea to bring the cards/swatches home. You can even choose the colour you’re leaning towards by painting one wall or paint a swatch on the wall to be sure before you have the whole room painted.
